Your role in a nutshell

• We are seeking a Scientist I to join Global Microbiology/Product Safety Team at Avon Products, Inc. The Global Microbiology department provides support during development of all microbiologically susceptible formulations, to assure microbiological integrity and safety of Avon’s Products. This includes but is not limited to: products preservation, microbiological quality of the raw materials and filled units, sanitization procedures. The successful candidate will coordinate external microbiology studies to support product safety, manage invoicing as appropriate, and manage and assign requests that come into the department. A successful candidate in this position will need to be flexible and support projects and work streams within the department as needed.
• Able to interact and collaborate successfully with all levels of personnel within R&D and with other divisions and departments • Coordination of external preservative efficacy studies for safety substantiation of Avon cosmetic products.
• Complete, send and track test submittals for test samples going to third party labs.
• Responsible for the accurate reporting of test results
• Management of invoicing and monthly budget.
• Regular communication with external contacts such as CROs to fulfill relevant duties.

Required

• BS or MS in microbiology, biology or related field is required, experience in cosmetics
• Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness in identifying, proposing and applying solutions to issues
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory methods, demonstrates knowledge of microbiology
• Strong analytical, problem solving, reporting and documenting skills with attention to detail
• Able to interact and collaborate successfully with all levels of personnel within R&D and with other divisions and departments
• Well organized and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting established deadlines
• Ability to function as a team player working in a highly matrixed environment
• Excellent communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely; excellent interpersonal skills to establish professional working relationships with colleagues and site personnel.
• Must have attention to detail; ability to prioritize, think independently, implement solutions and meet timelines.
• Good computer skills are essential. Must have expertise in working with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, basic knowledge of statistics a plus.
• Must be able to speak/write/read English
