Responsabilities

• Maintain knowledge of company’s sustainability goals and objectives, including traceability and no-deforestation initiatives, and initiatives to reduce environmental impact (water, waste, greenhouse gases, energy) and enhance biodiversity and soil health
• Understand company product portfolio and how our sustainability programs impact various products, including potential claims that can be made by the company or downstream customers based on carbon intensity, GHG emissions reductions, sourcing claims, renewable energy usage, recyclability, etc.
• Maintain and enhance responsible sourcing policies and oversee practices, including compliance with global supply chain due diligence requirements that apply to the region
• Working knowledge of carbon accounting schemes including product, project, and inventory level accounting from GHG Protocol, SBTi, GREET, ISO, etc.
• Participation in the development of new external sustainability standards and protocols and assessment of final version for impact to ADM and product portfolio
• Support data gathering and calculation of product life-cycle analysis (LCA) and environmental production declaration (EPD)
• Provide review as a subject matter expert for marketing and sales team material development, including sell sheets, publication articles, web content, customer presentations and participate in sales meetings, as needed.
• Develop new and expand existing sustainability-related product certification schemes, including ISCC, US SSAP, CSAP, etc.
• Collaboration with multiple teams including origination, sales, communications, legal, government relations, strategy, utilities
• Understand carbon market development
• Maintain an understanding of relevant requirements in South America, including
  • The Brazilian Forest Code
  • All relevant national and local requirements in region

Requirements

• University degree in sustainability, environmental science, agriculture, or similar
• Experience in corporate sustainability
• Comfortable working in matrixed environment
• Ability to influence and support cross functional teams and to collaborate across many different disciplines
• Professional demeanor with exceptional communication (written, verbal and presentation skills) and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in English, Spanish and Portuguese desired
• Travel up to 30%
